Carlton Gardens !MAX to operate at the new museum from next year. Operated partly by Cinema
Plus who are opening an I MAX at Darling Harbour this year. There are 130 I MAX
theatres internationally, with 26 more to open this year, licenced by !MAX Canada.
Maryborough Paramount re-opening. ·
Maryborough Drive-In Closed. Probably terminal. The screen fell over.
Maribyrnong Cinemotion simulator theatre added to HighPoint.
Melbourne Forum "The Piano Men" is on downstairs and part of the Melbourne Film Festival upstairs
Melbourne Regent Opened on 17/8/96 with a one-off concert.
Melbourne Casino A new 1800 seat Lyric theatre is planned. Rumour - the venue for "Miss Saigon".
Melbourne Comedy Purchased by David Marriner - only the Athenaeum and Her Majestys to go.
Melb. Her Majestys Making an effort to obtain new shows.
Melbourne "Solomon Lew Buys Hoyts Complex" in Bourke Street (Herald Sun p 21, 3/8/96).
Morwell Work started on the $6 million, 8 screen, cinema complex.
North cote Westgarth back in business after the closing of the Valhalla.
Richmond Without any fanfare, the National is now a block of shops & offices.
Richmond Former Cinema Richmond (BBQ Galore) has modifications happening in the foyer.
Wangaratta Drive-In Closed again - probably terminal.
