Some interesting email has come our way via the CATHS website recently. Chris Clegg from the Amber Valley Print Centre
in the UK wrote to introduce their new website and establish reciprocal links with CATHS. The Amber Valley Print Centre is
a UK publisher specialising in cinema and theatre books which deal with the architecture and history of theatre buildings.
Chris will be providing occasional reports to CATHS on the cinema and theatre scene in the UK. Also, Chris has very kindly
sent us ' five books which will be reviewed in future editions of CinemaRecord. Their website is at
           www.amber-vaUey-pc.demon.co.uk

A very encouraging letter eame from Andrew Robbins. He wrote:

           "To Martin and Jon,
           Whal a fantastic site!
Your pages of information and in particular your vast list of links are very impressive and a delight to swfthrough.
I found you whilst trying to get some information on the rumoured plans to destroy the Capitol in Melbourne, I believe that
some opposition is being organised, and am interested in wha1 can be done. (The community started the rescue of the Sun in
           Yarraville).
Anyway/' m going to join CATHS to support our cinema and theatre heritage and because you have such a good site! Keep
           up the great work!!''

Thanks Andrew, for your comments about our website and your concern for the future of the Capitol Theatre. We'll be doing
all we can to provide information about the Capitol. On the CATHS website we have just posted some magnificent
photographs of the Capitol Theatre, showing the original auditorium and foyers.
We greatly look forward to your membership of CATHS! And thanks to I an WiiJjams for providing the Capitol photographs.

Kathy Charles is a cinema academic at RMIT and is compiling a bibliography of CA THS and has requested copies of
newsletters, reports, booklets, audio-visual material etc. A set of CATHS publications etc. Has been sent to Kathy for her
project. Kathy also works at Channel 31 where she produced 'Celluloid City' which profiled a different cinema in Melbourne
each week, as well as 'Screened+ Gleaned', a current cinema arts program.

Kathy is also joining CATHS, along with Steve McDonell who recently discovered our website. In his email Steve also
provided valuable information for us to update the country cinemas listing on the website. Steve does the programming for
Echuca Paramount, Kyneton, Y arrawonga (Town Hall) cinemas and the Shepparton Drive-in. The website for these cinemas
           is at www.mcprogramming.com.au

New member, Brian Y ecies, is looking for info regarding the coming of motion picture sound equipment to the Australian filin
industry, circa 1928-1932. Aneedotes and stories about the transition from the silents to the talkies are welcome. I am
specifically looking at locally-made sound heads and projection equipment and how they tried to compete with the American
sound equipments. Also looking at the role that the RMIT Biograph Operators course had on Victorian projectionist's
experiences. Thank you for your help!
