             Bendigo        Twin Cinema is tipped to become part of the Village chain soon.

             Carlton        Developers announced the construction of a multi-purpose centre at 204-218 Lygon Street.
                            The building will include parking, a retail area and cafe, gymnasium, reception centre and
                            a 6 screen cinema complex. The theatres will total 1300 seats and an art-house policy will
                            be jointly operated by Village Roadshow and Palace Cinemas.

             Elsternwick    Classic applying for council permit for three additional screens, enlarged foyer, and a nearby
                            car park. Some objections have been received from local businesses.

             Melbourne      Capitol - Tenders for either sale or lease closed on the 20th June. The future of the Capitol
                            should be known by September.

             Melbourne      Village Crown Casino opened an additional four screens in June, complementing the 1 0
                            screens already operating. These cinemas are a new concept, called Gold Class, with 28
                            luxury seats only. Admission is $25. Corporate and promotional functions will be featured.

             Moe            Gippsland's last remaining drive-in is scheduled to open in September/Spring

             Richmond       David Marriner announces plans for a large complex on the Yarra, to include cinemas.

             Shepparton     Cinema Capri Twin is tipped to become part of the Village chain soon.

             St. Kilda      The Astor has a completely new sound system, using state of the art digital sound system,
                            the  heart of which is the Dolby CP500-70D processor.  This provides Dolby Digital sound,
                            together with 35mm and 70mm DTS Digital capability. This makes The Astor the second
                            theatre in Australia fitted to take 70mm DTS sound. Combined with the accoustics of The
                            Astor the sound is superb.

             Toorak         Palace have announced plans to re-launch the Trak cinema with programming similar to the
                            Astor and Westgarth. The Trak opened in 1969 and is on the same site as the Village Cinema
                            which closed shortly after the arrival of television and was subsequently destroyed by fire 1n
                            the early sixties during a conversion to hve theatre.

             Channel?       Purchased a further $1 ,300,000 worth of shares in MGM to maintain their 31% stake in the
                            studio. The MGM library now contains the Orion Pictures and Samuel Goldwyn films This now
                            expands the MGM catalogue to 3900 titles, making it the largest in the world.

             Radio 3RRR     Paul Harris conducted a listeners poll on July 5th in his "Film Buffs Forecast" program, asking
                            how many complexes and cinema extensions have been promoted in Melbourne. The new
                            developments mentioned included Ringwood, Epping, Sunshine, the Moonee Ponds Market
                            (Reading), Sunbury, Coburg, Keilor/Sydenham, Frankston and Broadmeadows.

                            Additional screens mentioned were at the Jam Factory, Rosebud, Cranbourne, Rivoli, the
                            Longford, Southland, Northland and the Nova. An amazing total of up tp 80 screens.
