            Croydon          Extra two screens to open next month
            Geelong          Nine additional screens will be added to Village Twin Cinema
            Geelong          Drive-in closed and demolished
            Hepburn Springs  Palais Theatre restored & opened for dances, movies receptions & conferences
            Lilydale         Twin due to open
            Malvern          Seven screen complex at 1127-1143 High Street
            Melbourne        Dendy Collins Street closed
            Morwell          Six-plex bounded by Princes Drive. Hoyle, and James Streets
            Mulgrave         Waverley Gardens Twin to close after a Six-plex opens, on site of old Venture store
            North Melbourne  Imperial Theatre. 112 Errol Street, now 16 warehouse-style units
            Ringwood         Two planned, a 12-plex and an 8-plex. Village-Palace & Hoyts are the operators
            South Yarra      Jam Factory Village 1 0-Piex. Also a 3-plex for Palace at 299 Toorak Road.
            Wangaratta       Store on the corner of Reid & Ovens Streets to be converted into a Twin Cinema
            Yarraville       City of Footscray is rumoured to be restoring an old cinema - must be the "Sun"
            Village-Palace   Village has bought 50% of Palace


            Hoyts            Plans for 1 00 new movie screens in Au st. over the next 5 years. Currently Hoyts have
                             23% of the market, audience growth is 16% per year, film makers are turning out record
                             numbers of movies, film quality is improving, and advertising revenues are strong. Hoyts
                             will go to the sharemarket later this year and this will enable the extra 100 screens to be
                             built.  Val Morgan executive , Mr. Paul Booth says that under 25's make up more than
                             50% of the "52. 7 million bums" that graced Australia's movie seats last year.(Age 3!7/94)
